Moments ago, the Minister of Interior and former governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola disowned what he called ‘an unauthorised message’, posted on his verified Twitter and Facebook pages. Recall that early reports on Sunday claimed that the former governor had ‘waxed spiritual’ following the defeat of the incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, and said that ‘God gives power to whoever he wills’.
In fact, Vanguard Newspaper had reported that Aregbesola received knocks from some members of the APC for not supporting the incumbent governor, after he shared Daniel 4: 17 in a post which read thus:
“Osun Le Tente. This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. – (Daniel 4:17)”.

Meanwhile, in a recent statement, signed by his Media Adviser, Sola Fasure, the Minister of Interior advised the media to ignore the unauthorised message, which according to him, has already been deleted from his handles. The statement was captured in a post on his verified Facebook page below:

Recall that at the end of saturday’s election, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke was declared winner, having polled 403,371 to defeat APC’s Oyetola who polled 375,027 votes. Lasun Yusuf of the Labour Party (LP) polled 2,729. More so, Adeleke won in 17 local government areas as against Oyetola’s 13.
