The New Patriotic Party’s member of Parliament for Assin North, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has reacted to the loss of some of the candidates picked by chairman Wontumi to lead the party.
According to Kennedy agyapong Ashanti regional npp chairman popularly called Chairman Wontumi should calm down and also know that the party does not belong to him.
It would recalled that prior to the elections, a group of 15 regional NPP Chairmen led by Wontumi raise their hands given their support to a particular candidate. He spoke on behalf of all the 15 regional chairmen urging the delegate to cast their vote for the past general secretary who lost heavily in the just-ended elections. He told the delegates that John Boadu has done it before and he is the best person to also help the party come 2024.
However, Chairmen Wontumi’s words were not enough to change the minds of the delegate as have they have decided on a new person to lead the party has a new General Secretary for the 2024 general elections.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong in response to the actions by the 15 regional chairman, lead by Chairman Wontumi stated that is high time he cools down and realise that he doesn’t own the NPP party. He also noted that it wouldn’t be surprising that he asked some of these regional chairmen to raise their hands against their will. This is something he said will not augur well for the party.
The posture of the 15 regional chairmen was highly condemned even by people outside the NPP fraternity.
