Corruption is the bane of underdevelopment in Africa and beyond. Nigeria has suffered extensively as a result of the actions of the corrupt leaders. Despite efforts my governments to fight corruption, everything has remained the same, or even worse.
This is the reason, Oseni Rufai, an Arise TV anchor, takes it back to the people. Rufai is a vocal journalist, and social commentator. He believes that the people are largely responsible for the actions of the corrupt politicians. Check out his exact tweet:

Lete focus more on his last sentence in the above quotation. In many ocassions, people have always presented the poor and ignorant ones in Nigeria as innocent. The argument is that the political class are suppressing the millions of Nigerians.
I have always argued that millions of people in Nigeria are the reason we are where we are today. Our leaders are selected from us. They represented who we truly are. You have the right to your opinion, but I insist that we have silently bedeviled ourselves.
If everyone call corruption by its name and distance from the corrupt person, there will be change. If we engage our leaders to account for their actions, corruption will change.
Election is a out to start in Osun State. Many non governmental organizations that monitor electioneering processes in Nigeria have argued that vote buying is the bane of electoral manipulation. Are the politician buying votes from trees? The poor and ignorant once, who are massively populated, are the ones seeking their votes.
The politicians spend a lot of money to win elections because we as a people are massively corrupt. We heard that politicains paid party delegates millions during primary elections. Were the delegates imported from any other country? They sold their votes.
When you sell your vote, you do not just sell your right, you sell the country. The people are not innocent in any way. When a politician is accused of corruption, his people will call it witch-hunting. He will forget the accusation and join his followers to allege that he is witch hunted.
We also heard that a political party stated that once you join them, all your corrupt actions will be forgotten. As I type this text, tears filled my eyes. The people are actually the reason why we are where we are today.
