Bishop Adu Calls For Measures That Would Deal With Alleged Irresponsible Fathers.

The founder and leader of the New Jerusalem Chapel sited at Kumasi Sokoban Ampayoo in the Ashanti Region, Bishop Dr. John Yaw Adu has expressed worry about the rising trend in which most fathers in these days tend to neglect their children and thereby contributing to all forms of antisocial vices in the society.

Bishop Adu observed that such activities which have allegedly dominated certain fathers are having negative impact in the country and called for attention.

Speaking to the Content Writer King Amoah in reaction to the Fathers Day celebrations which took off on Sunday June 19 2024, Bishop Adu said in order to keep the alleged irresponsible fathers on their toes, there is the need for the policy makers to introduce stiffer laws to deal with such elements to help curb the menace.

According to the respected man of God though there are laws that deal with the situation, yet the laws seem to be less biting thus giving some fathers the field day to pay less attention to the welfare of their children.

Citing instances to justify his points, the clergy referred Ghanaians to the Police Service where cases regarding to parental neglect are handled there.

The Police Service he said, do their best to settle scores to prevent fathers from neglecting their children, due to lack of follow up, some fathers continue to shun their responsibilities.

Bishop Dr John Yaw Adu gave further instance where some fathers treat court orders with contempt and walk in the streets as free citizens.

A court would order an offended father to pay a specific amount to cater for the welfare of his child every month, but after paying for two or three months the father stops further remittances and go unchecked, leaving the mothers to carry the burden.

He said the monitoring system regarding to the laws that address the child neglect is allegedly weak to the extent that some fathers take it for granted to destroy the future of their children.

The man of God also partly blame Ministers of God who allegedly fail to use their pulpits to encourage men to become responsible and cater for the well being of their children.

And instead, discourage women from taking legal actions against irresponsible fathers in the name of forgiveness by referring women’s to Bible quotations.

Bishop Adu added that to drag a man who is not ready to repent to court

and seek justice for innocent child is not a crime before God who in His Kingdom believes in rule of law.

The clergy observed that parts of child neglect comes as a result of divorce insisting that the menace is producing young men and women who have become a burden to the government and as such strict laws must be enforced to reverse the trend.

He indicated that the United States of America who have laws that give mandate to government to pay even unemployed is currently facing economic challenges because of population growth.

Stressing that Ghana, as a small country, if we allow men to children without parental care the children will grow up to become irresponsible citizens and law breakers to the disadvantage of the country.

And the result would be that Ghanaians would live as if we are in the animals kingdom, giving birth without considering the negative impact that could affect our existence.

Calling on the parents to initially train their children especially the female ones the right ways to avoid them from unwanted pregnancies, the Bishop said since charity begins at home, child neglect by fathers would curbed if parents train their female children well at home.
