Should Ghanaians be worried about the Stars embarrassing loss to Japan?

The Black Stars today lost their first game since the new technical team led by Otto Addo took over. The Blue Samurai of Japan defeated them by 4 goals to one(4-1). Jordan Ayew got the only goal for the Black Stars.

There shouldn’t be too much to worry about as the team that played this game was woefully depleted. The team lost a host of players before the trip to Japan.

Richard Ofori, Denis Odoi, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Kofi Kyereh, Antoine Semenyo, Jonathan Mensah, Osman Bukari, Baba Rahman, Baba Iddrisu, Joseph Aidoo and Abdul Mumin.

Entirely new players were invited to join the team in Japan. Hearts of Oak left back Denis Korsah, and Nordjalland trio of Maxwell Woledzi, Emmanuel Ogura and Francis Abu were all given late call ups.

The team lacked experience, solidity and teamwork. The starting eleven had only 5 regular players; Amartey, Kudus, Andre, Jordan and Wakaso.

There is hope after this tournament as the GFA is in the process of securing a good number of top players to swith nationality to Ghana. The likes of Tariq, Inaki, Nico, Nketiah, Hudson Odoi, Ambrosius are all in the process of acquiring their Ghanaian citizenships.
