The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Baagbin has finally sent a very bold and strange message to the Inspector General of Police over Police brutalities of the citizens.
Speaker Bagbin revealed that neither he nor Parliament will ever tolerate Police brutalities again because the Parliament House is the center of democracy in the country. He revealed the House will be forced to take stringent measures to stop it should it persist.
” We will no longer tolerate police brutalities in the country. Parliament is the center of this democracy in Ghana. The concept is very clear. We will be forced to take stringent measures to curb this when it persists.” Bagbinn made these known to the IGP while speaking at Parliament’s consideration of the Defence and Interior Committee’s report on the incident of military-civilian brutality in Wa in the Upper West Region.
There have been a record number of Police brutalities of the citizens in the last few months.
