I was Upset By Akufo-Addo’s Decision To Drop Me Out Of His Government – Samuel Atta-Akyea

The Abuakwa South Member of Parliament (MP), Samuel Atta-Akyea, has for the first time publicly spoken about his displeasure with the decision by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to leave him out of his government – drop him.

Samuel Atta-Akyea, who served as the Minister of Works and Housing, during Akufo-Addo’s first term, missed out on the ministerial appointments made by the President in his second term of office.

The Abuakwa South MP however, says that has not discouraged him in any way and that he continues to work – give it his all, for the good of his party, constituency and the nation.

He derives a lot of joy from the fact that he was not incompetent, he was not corrupt, he did not engage in any dirty deals and he did not disgrace himself.

He is proud of his performance, the integrity he showed as a minister of state. “I was not filthy, I was not incompetent, I did not soil the name of the Ofori-Attas.”

Samuel Atta-Akyea openly confessed that he was disappointed when President Nana Akufo-Addo did not re-nominate him to a ministerial position but was quick to add that he was not discouraged and that he has been working.

The Abuakwa South legislator, who is in his fourth term in Parliament and has been serving as chairperson of the mines and energy committee, subsidiary legislation committee, and special budget committee of parliament, said the wisdom of what the President did will show with time and that he would leave it with the President.

Samuel Atta-Akyea went on “So far, I have not heard from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that it was so ugly and filthy that you so embarrassed my government that I did not want to see you again.”

There are number of others who were engaged as ministers and deputy ministers under Nana Addo’s first term but have been dropped in this second of Nana Addo’s administration.
