Good News Coming From The Republic Of Togo

The Republic of Togo;who reported of about 37,000 confirmed cases of covid-19; and also 273 deaths, in its desperate quest to curb the spread of Covid-19 disease, upheld strict emergency sanitary measures, closure of it’s borders, since April 2020.

The western and eastern borders of the country, are only 50 kilometres apart at its southern tip; which means that, when Togo closed its borders, business and exports, were also blocked, between several of its neighboring countries; such as states Benin, Ivory Coast and Ghana.

The good news currently coming from Togo reveals that, the country has officially opened its land borders after two years of closure, due to the novel corona virus pandemic.

The opening of the Togo borders; from the midnight of Tuesday, May 17, 2022, is a great news Migrants and Petty traders from Ghana, Benin, Nigeria and other other neighboring countries, as this will enable them move freely between their countries and Togo for business activities.

The Republic of Ghana, on the other hand, opened it’s land borders in March, this year 2022.

The Member of Parliament for Ketu South Constituency in the Voltta Region, who reacted to the development, said the opening of borders in Ghana and Togo, is “a great relief for the people”.

The MP again urged people who wants to cross the border, to carry along their national identity cards, and Covid 19 vaccination cards in order to make the process seamless for the border officials.
