A 23 years old young man named Michael was staying with his best friend in the same room. His friend’s girlfriend named Obaa Yaa used to visit him during weekends. One day the lady came to the house to visit her boyfriend as usually do but the guy was not in the house at that time. Instead of her to go back home, she stayed in the room for a long time watching Television. Michael said all of a sudden the lady came to sit beside him on his bed, what she was doing made him to sleep with her.
Two weeks later, Obaa Yaa called him to inform him that she is pregnant. But she told Michael that she wants to abort the baby, he too gave her GHC50 to buy the medicine for the abortion. Michael called her again to find out if she has been able to abort the baby or not but the lady told him that she didn’t do it but has spend the money. What she told him made the guy angry and they exchanged words on the phone.
Michael travelled back to their hometown to spend some months before coming back, when he came back to Kumasi, Obaa Yaa called him again to inform him that she has given birth and the child is even 9 months old, she also told him that he is the father of the child, the guy was surprised but he accepted the child and decided to take care of him.
His mother later came to know about his son. Michael’s mother then sent the lady some money to use as transport to come and visit them at Kumasi. She came with the child, her mother-in-law bought lots of things for both of them before she went back to Assin Fosu. The woman also bought a phone for the lady to use to call them if she needs anything. Michael’s mother tried on several occasions to speak with the lady’s father but she always tells her that he is not in the house.
All this while Michael and his mother have been sending her money. Obaa Yaa came to visit them again, her mother-in-law decided to go with her to meet her father but she ran away with the child without telling her mother-in-law anything. The woman was surprised when Obaa Yaa did that, fortunately, they were able to get the lady’s father’s number and they called him.
The man told them to have patience, he then sent the Obaa Yaa’s sister to their place, she was the one who revealed the truth that Michael is not the father of the child. They were all surprised because they have spent lots of money on the child and even his mother too. Michael tried to call Obaa Yaa to ask her if is true or not but she confirmed that he is not the biological father of her son.
