It is still hard for Mrabuya family in Eastwood, Petermaritzburg to accept the death of a 11 days old child.
Sanelisiwe Mrabuya who was living with her mother and 3 year old brother got burnt to death when her mother’s rented shack caught fire. According to the deceased’s aunty , the fire was caused by electricity chords which were left uncovered. She mentioned that the deceased’s mother Jabu Mrabuya had been gone to the toilet when the incident occured.
‘She wasn’t feeling well so she decided to visit the toilet which is located in the yard but then she found out someone else was still busy. She then decided to use her neighbour’s toilet and that is when the incident occured.’ Stated Mrabuya.
She continued revealing that her sister saw huge fire flames when she returned back to her shack. She found out that her 3 year old son was able to escape but the 11 days old child was still trapped inside.
‘She says she suspects electricity cables that were not connected accordingly to be the cause of all this. She mentioned that she left the TV on and nothing else. The mother of the child cannot even talk because of the pain of losing her child.’ Stated mrabuya.
