In South Africa, people have had an issue with network providers for quite some time now. First it was the demand for data prices to be reduced as they were getting quite expensive and, therefore, people were struggling to afford them.
Now, it seems like a new issue has started which is costing people big time. The issue that has been raised has been directed specifically to Vodacom. It appears that Vodacom has been doing something which a number of its customers hasn’t been pleased with. What Vodacom has been doing is that it has been giving people the option to do swim swaps with other people’s number without any need for identification or anything of that sort.

For those who don’t what a swim swap is, a swim swap is basically a process where when you get a new sim card, you get the option to keep the number you used to use on your old sim card and this is done through a swim swap. So now, instead of a swim swap being used for the above mentioned purpose, it appears that people are now using it in order to scam people. Someone can just request a swim swap for your number and then once they get a hold of it, they will use it to access any app or private information that you have on your phone that you have stored using that number. This is apparently what happened to Snikiwe Mhlongo’s mom. Snikiwe Mhlongo who’s famously known as Sni Mhlongo is a social media influencer and YouTuber as well. Her mom is Brenda Mhlongo, a well-known actress in South Africa and she currently stars on Etv’s Imbewu.

After Sni Mhlongo posted about this, quite a lot of people also came out with similar stories as they also expressed this scam all because they use Vodacom as their network provider.
