The normal for most African learners had been greatly disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, however things are slowly going back to normal.
This means normal full time learning for all students as well as normal school terms and school holidays for all students.
The decision to normalise everything was made such that school children could catch up on all the lost time during the pandemic.
The only difference for school terms and school holidays will be between inland schools and Outland schools in South Africa.
All schools in South Africa will close for the first term on the 17 th of March 2022, and will reopen for the second term on the the 5th of April 2022.
If there any changes to the school terms the minister of basic education, Angie Motshega will make the proper and formal announcements.
Government began the initiative of employing young people in schools as Educator Assistants and General School Assistants in 2020 after the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
The president in his State of the Nation Address indicated the government’s commitment to continue this employment opportunity as long as possible.
The second phase of the Youth employment Initiative will end on the 31st of March. The minister of education Angie Motshekga has announced that the third phase will begin immediately on the 1st of April.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is investigating cases of teachers who did not report for duty when schools opened on 7 February to ascertain whether their reasons for their absence are genuine or not.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) had given the absentee teachers until Tuesday, 22 February to resume work or be regarded as having resigned voluntarily.
The majority of teachers failed to report for duty when schools opened early this month citing incapacitation.
The teachers were also demanding pre-October 2018 US dollar salaries of up to US$540 per month.
