Pupils were dismissed early from school when several students demonstrated ancestral calling.
An educational disruption has occurred at a Durban school after students started expressing signs of “ancestral calling.”
AD Lazarus Secondary School on New Germany Road, Reservoir Hills, said in a letter that an urgent decision was made to discharge students with immediate effect from the school.
According to the school, “the reason for this urgent decision is that some students are showing signs of ancestral calling, which has gotten out of hand and is causing disruptions in learning and instruction.”
The school urged students to show compassion and empathy in this situation.
In order to safeguard the safety of our students, we are taking every precaution possible under the circumstances.
As Rodney Moodley, of Inkosi Security, said, the was stationed outside the school, keeping an eye on the situation.
Moodley said that parents were racing to the school to pick up their children from the school.
“For the time being, though, everything is peaceful.”
Kwazi Mthethwa, a spokesman for the Agency of Education in KwaZulu-Natal, said that the department does not discriminate against any students. We’ll need to double-check this information before we can make a definitive statement.”
In a second instance earlier this week, students at a Phoenix-area school were accused of taking part in a Tik Tok challenge, which caused disruptions in the classroom.
School officials stated students from a number of different Phoenix schools engaged in rebellious behavior, unlawfully congregating in groups and stoning automobiles, as well as interrupting classes and destroying school equipment.
“One of the reasons for this is because they are supposedly following a Tik Tok challenge, in which the video challenged cross- clothing, where male children are required to wear skirts to school,” Colonel Thembeka Mbele, a spokeswoman for the police, said.
She said that after that, students proceeded to Woodview Park and began yelling and ran around with sticks in the park.
In response, the police were summoned, and the throng was dispersed.
