Background
Many South Africans unknown to be receiving the social grant from SASSA. These grants are meant for the poor and the main aim is to try and balance out the poverty in the community. The older people in the country can have ways to fend for themselves while children on the other hand do not have that ability. This is why research was done to try and find out if the amount the children have been recieving from SASSA was enough and now there are talks about getting an increase.

According to the latest news research was done on whether the current amount of R460 was enough to take care if the needs of children. It was found out that the money is not enough at all and the poverty line is actually above the price. It is said that the poverty line is the amount that a person needs to spend on a minimum for their basic needs to be met.
Currently it is said that the poverty line stands at R744 for children. This means that with the amount currently being received children don’t have all the needs that they need to survive. This is why they are called for the government to increase the grants to the poverty line.
Opinion
The president really nice to hear this call for the grant to be increased. Children are the future and they need to remain as healthy as possible for them to actually fulfill it. At the current moment parents are struggling and they are compromising on one side in order to cater on the earth. And increasing the Grant will make sure that children are able to function normally in society without ever feeling like they are missing something.
