A woman has gone to social media to accuse a bolt driver of raping her friend and taking her virginity. Bolt is an Estonian mobility that offers vehicle for hire, micromobility, car sharing and food delivery services.
The woman alleges that the man throttled her friend by the throat and warned her that he will break her neck if she keeps screaming. He then continued strangling her while he raped her.
The woman then claims that Bolt does not take care of its customers and many of its drivers have been accused of assault.
It is sad how everyday we read about rape online and in print media. It’s saddening that South Africa has the highest incidences of rape in the world. This story will only inflame those who read it and will rub wounds into those who have been victims of rape.
What it will also give is a new weapon for anti immigrant lobby groups like Operation dudula to use. Undoubtedly the apparent foreign heritage of the alleged rapist will be used to attach violent crime to undocumented immigrants.
With the war in Europe looming, a new war may be starting closer to home.
