Another Zimbabwean man in bloody shootout with the police

This week has been full of shootings between police and criminals and it’s safe to say, criminals are not winning.

In the township of Mmatswale, a 31 year old man was fatally wounded during an alleged shoot-out with the police in on the outskirts of Musina in Limpopo.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo who is the Limpopo police spokesperson said the suspected criminal identified as Zimbabwean national was named Prince Dube. He died on Tuesday 22 February, while one of his accomplices was arrested by police.

The police has received information about the dangerous suspect who, together with his companions, were allegedly terrorising the community around Musina with armed robberies and other serious crimes. Complaint’s kept coming in until police assembled a dedicated team of the local members that conducted a snap search operation at the identified location,” said Mojapelo.

From that seach, law enforcement team succeeded in apprehending the suspects in question.

When police arrested the first suspect, they continued to probe the case leading police to the suspect’s alleged accomplices in the area. When they arrived at the location of the accomplices, the suspect allegedly started shooting at the members who returned fire, fatally wounding him.

In the place where Prince Dube was killed, the police recovered five illegal firearms, two pistols, two 303 rifles and one pellet gun, during the operation.

“The firearms confiscated will be subjected to ballistic examination. This will help to determine if they were used in other serious crimes. Cases of murder, attempted murder and possession of illegal firearms have been opened against them.
