A movement established by local truck drivers in South Africa has decided to embark on a nationwide strike on Sunday. The reason for their nationwide shutting down is strictly because of the employment of foreign nationals in the industry.
The struggle against foreigners residing in South Africa has become a national issue which has led to many movements coming out to speak against the influx of foreigners in the country.
“A local truck drivers’ movement will down tools in a nationwide shutdown on Sunday over the employment of foreign nationals in the industry.”
Some people most especially South Africans have reacted to this in various ways, take a look at some of their responses below;
@EphraimManamela tweeted,
“South African trucks must be driven by South African drivers, period, it’s happening in Mozambique, Zambia, Malawi, etc, it must happen in mzanzi as well, they must park trucks in freeways.”
@Justjanny58 tweeted,
“And what good does it do to the economy and how much money do shop owners etc lose and this results in more job losses.”
@bboy_zoid tweeted,
“Here’s the thing about the trucking industry, they all employ “foreign nationals” wherever you go in the world. Majority of drivers in Canada are from Bangladesh, the UK was full of East Europeans, this very website was promoting “million per annum” truck driving jobs in the USA.”
@gwala_phelelani tweeted,
“We don’t want foreign drivers to work in the SA trucking industry, they can bring or collect goods with trucks from their own countries we don’t have a problem with that.”
@JasonHol84 tweeted,
“I’m guessing the foreign nationals will be driving and not striking, makes you wonder why someone would employ them.”
