Ace Magashule is one of the people who were subjected to the “Step aside” rule by the ANC, Ace magashule had about 70 corruption cases leveled against him by the NPA, which then led to him stepping aside from his Secretary-general duties within the ANC, and during that time Ace was requested not to participate in any of the ANC activities till he gets cleared from the corruption cases against him.

However, Ace did not stop participating in ANC activities since he believed and always know that he is not corrupt. Ace said in one of his interviews right after the court case where they were challenging the NPA to throw away the case that he is not corrupt and he has never engaged in any corruption cases.
From the 70 corruption cases that were opened against Ace Magashule, only three now are left since the NPA could not provide substantiating evidence against Ace Magashule towards all the corruption cases they had against him, and even though there are only three cases against him Ace Magashule still states that he is not and has never been involved in any corruption.

Furthermore, Ace Magashule stated that the cases that the NPA has against him do not pin him to the exact corruption that may have been done. Of the three charges, he says that they are insinuating that he was involved since he was the premier of Free State and that the corruption occurred under his watch. And he is been charged for offering tuition money to one of the students who then went to study abroad but he never benefited anyhow.

With the ANC NEC meeting looming, such results are them helping Ace Magashule to then secure his position back at the ANC. Most of his followers especially Carl Niehaus believe that the cases against Ace Magashule are political trying to hinder Ace’s presence at the NEC meeting where leaders are selected, with the results they are now getting it is of a good boost to the ambitions to form part of the NEC Meeting.
