Flagbearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Kwabena Duffour has been advised to shelve his ambitions to lead the party as its presidential candidate for the next elections to support former President Mahama’s bid.
This is coming from the NDC’s Vice Chair for the Klottey Korley Constituency, Julius Neequaye Kotey, alias Logas.
According to Logas, there is no way delegates of the NDC party will choose Dr Duffour, who has served as Finance Minister and Governor of the Bank of Ghana over former President Mahama.
“Dr Duffour can do all he can, humanly possible, but he will lose the flagbearer race. We need him to stop al;l he is doing and support the John Mahama camp.
“Even if he donates buses to all the constituencies, we will not vote for Dr Duffour. Even if former President Mahama is on his sick bed will bring him to contest the flagbearer race”, he said.
Logas made the above remarks on Accra-based Happy 98.9 FM, adding that the 2024 general elections will be keenly contested on the records of former President Mahama and that there is no one better equipped to tell that story than the man himself.
“And so far as he is alive, he will represent the party as flag bearer. Mahama is ready to be sold but Duffour will have to be marketed and we don’t have the time for that now”, he added.
Dr Duffour is seriously campaigning to become the Presidential candidate of the NDC, has recently launched the “Ahotor Project”, which is aimed at strengthening the grassroots of the party to win political power in 2024.
The project has seen him donating many items, event rental equipment to constituency offices of the party.
