The founder and leader of the Lord’s Fireworks Chapel International located at Kumasi Adum in the Ashanti Region, Pr.Dr.Bishop James Akwasi Oppong (aka Jakwapo) has proposed that it would be prudent if African continent would come together and use one common currency.
Speaking to the Content Writer King Amoah in an interview, the Bishop who also doubles as the founder of Oppong Rising Chapel International linked the underdevelopment situation in Africa to the instability its currency.
The currencies that African countries use allegedly have no value at the international scene and even within the African countries, the clergy pointed out.
According to the man of God who also doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Jakwapo Group Of Companies, Africa is a big continent which is expected to use one common currency to build its economy.
Just like the United Kingdom, United States of America among others who use one common currency to move their economies forward.
In Africa, he alleged such financial practices are non existence as countries within the continent have been using different currencies to run their economies thus making both internal and external businesses to become difficult for them.
Bishop Dr Akwasi Oppong said it is against this background that hence he is proposing for the use of pounds sterling (£) across the African countries.
He on this note passionately appealed to Heads of State, Organization Of Africa Unity (OAU) and all stakeholders involved for emergency conference to deliberate on the issue to enable them take action.
Apparently to help African countries to liberate themselves from its economic challenges.
Bishop Dr Akwasi Oppong cited that if the introduction of the pounds sterling currency is enforced as a common currency in Africa it would enhance free trade and movement in Africa by African citizens.
It will also help businesses to grow, increase job creation, improve links with the international business sectors, tax reduction as well as promoting export and import sectors.
This is because the continent would experience less currency depreciation in its economic activities.
The man of God allege that the continent would continue to struggle if African leaders remain silent citing that the secrets behind the development countries who continue to build their economies are nothing but rather they use one common currency to operate their countries.
