Former head coach of Asante Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu has expressed confidence that the Black Stars will be able to beat any opponent at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The four time African champions have been paired in group H that constitute two old foes, Portugal, Uruguay and South for the month long tournament in Qatar.
Ghana is making a fourth appearance at the World Cup having first entered in the 2006 edition in Germany.
“I’m very hopeful that the Blackstars can surprise any team Portugal.
“We must also be wary that our team is a new team as compared to Portugal who has been together for a longer period.” Maxwell Konadu said.
The Black Stars best World Cup performance was a quarter final place finish in the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
A group stage exit at the 2014 edition in Brazil marked a downward turn for the West African nation which failed to book a slot in the 2018 mundial.
The team however returned with verve in the 2022 qualifiers – beating arch rivals, Nigeria via the away goal rule to return the global football showpiece.
