Chelsea’s pursuit of French international and RB Leipzig’s in form attacker, Christopher Nkunku has been hit with a huge blow after the attacker got injured in training at France’s training base.
It has been alleged that the player has bruised his ankle and will therefore not be available for the World Cup tournament.
This comes after the West London club were reported to have completed the negotiations for the player and were preparing an announcement to finalize the deal.
It is not yet known the extent of the injury but sources around the player have indicated that the injury is a bad one and could actually rule the player out for a long term.
This is believed to hamper Chelsea’s progress in the transfer market as they would either have to search for alternative options or wait for news about the player’s possible return from injury before making any moves.
Meanwhile, France is expected to make another call up to a new player to replace injured Nkunku and it is expected that Manchester United’s Anthony Martial will be the replacement. Â
