Let’s talk about sports today as far as the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE is concern as the round of 16 draw happened today at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday 7 November. The ceremony began at 12:00 CET, which is 11am in the UK and Portugal. 16 teams qualified to the round of 16 stage out of the 32 teams. We had the group winners (seeded) to be Bayern, Benfica, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Man City, Napoli, Porto and Tottenham, with the remaining teams, thus the runners up (PSG, Inter, Liverpool etc.) to be the unseeded.
Surprisingly, Real Madrid are Spain’s only representatives in the pots, which is unusual for LaLiga Santander in recent years as Barcelona, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid were all eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League. Out of the 16 teams, Germany and England both dominate, having their four representatives all qualified from the group stage with Italy having 3 representatives. And as usual, group winners can’t meet each other and clubs from the same country can’t also meet each other as the rules governing the round of 16 says.
