The National Executive Council of the Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) says the Union have no hands in an alleged press statement that was issued by one Eric Kwaku Boateng a former chairman of the Union.
In a brief interview with a section of the media on behalf of the members of the National Executive Council, Mr Vincent Aryertey Odonkor stated that the Union discovered that the former chairman had allegedly issued a false statement against the president by using the letter heads of the Union.
Mr Odonkor indicated that this came to our notice when our attention was drawn to the publication of the said press statement.
Mr Vincent Aryertey Odonkor who is the National Organiser as well as Communicator respectively of the Union related that the former chairman alleged in his said press statement, gave the president one week ultimatum to remove the Finance Minister from office.Â
After which if the president fails he would ask the Union members to register their protest against him (Nana Akuffo Addo)Â through demonstration.
But members of the National Executive Council of the Union described the said press statement as fake because the highest authorized body of the Union knows nothing about said press statement.
Mr Odonkor said based on the degree of damages that the alleged statement caused in the society, hence the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Union have found it prudent to react and orender its unqualified apologies to the President Nana Akuffo Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo, the Finance Minister and the general public.
Apparently to disassociate themselves from the alleged statement which the former chairman secretly circulated by using the Union’s letter heads to archieve that agenda.
According to the National Organiser who also doubles as a Communicator, the Union as a neutral body condemns any statement that seeks to align the Union with any political party as issued by the former chairman Mr. Boateng.
Mr Vincent Aryertey Odonkor also hinted that Mr Boateng has been suspended indefinitely from the Union for an alleged abuse of office, poor leadership, mismanagement and lack of accountability.
Stressing that the former chairman ceases to be the chairman of the Union.
The National Organiser said with the exit of the former chairman Mr. Eric Kwaku Boateng (alias Tanko) the security agencies and general public have been accordingly informed for attention.
The National Organiser also advised organizations, the media and the public to engage only elected and accredited members of the Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) for any interview or formal interactions.
Mr Vincent Aryertey Odonkor indicated that the Union has allegedly given Mr. Boateng 48 hours to retract in full, the alleged fake press statement and also apologize to the Council
The security agencies would also be officially notified to investigate the former chairman to answer questions on who authorized him to use the Union’s letter heads to write press releases without the consent from the authorized bodies.
