President Akufo-Addo To Address The Nation On The Economy

Ghanaians are feeling the brunt of economic hardships as prices of good soar and the cedi also depreciates to the United States dollar. Well, as the country struggles with her finances, calls are being made for the Ken Ofori Atta, the Finance Minister to lay down his tools for someone else to take charge. Ghana is currently at crossroads and many are wondering where redemption will come from.

Despite the situation across the globe, many feel the repercussions of Covid-19 and Ukraine Russian war could have been lesser had the Akufo-Addo government not mismanaged the economy. Many calls have been made to the President to address the nation but these calls have gone unheeded to. Just this week, Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central and aspiring flagbearer for the ruling NPP also called on the president to speak as this will be reassuring Ghanaians that he is still in charge.

Well, the President has finally listened and will be addressing the nation. This will come off on Sunday at 8pm. It will be interesting to see what the President has to say. Many Ghanaians are looking forward to hear what information the President has on the current ongoing IMF deal. Maybe the President will also talk about issues about Ken Ofori Atta. Perhaps this address should have come earlier. It still points to a good direction though.

It can be recalled that on Monday news broke that in the week former President John Mahama will be addressing the nation. John Mahama will also be speaking today on the state of the economy and the way forward. It is unclear whether this is the main reason forcing the President to come out and also promise to talk to Ghanaians or the internal turmoil in his own party is what is informing his decision to address Ghanaians. What are your expectations
