Okyenhene Cautions Eastern Region NPP MPs Backing Ofori-Atta’s Removal

The Okyenhene Amoatia Ofori-Panin has reportedly cautioned two Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Eastern Region who are backing the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister.

Online news portal, mynewsgh reports that the Okyenhene, who is the Uncle of President Akuf0-Addo and Ken Ofori-Atta, is peeved by the two MPs after they refused to honour his summon to the Abuakwa Palace to explain why they have joined the chorus to sacking the Finance.

As a result the Okyenhene, has allegedly sent words to the Two MPs informing them that the AKyem Abuakwa Palace will never forget their names.

MPs from the majority side of Parliament, on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, held a press conference to demand the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta and Dr Charles Adu Boahen, Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.

The MPs, numbering 80 and led by Andy Appiah-Kubi, MP for Asante Akyem North, say they are convinced removing the two will help restore economic order.

“We are by this medium communicating our strong desire that the President changes the Finance Minister and the Minister of state at the finance ministry without further delay in order to restore hope to the Finance sector and reverse the downward trend in the growth of our economy. The summary of our concerns is that Kenneth Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu Boahen be removed from office”, he said.

Two of the MPs are said to be from the Eastern Region, specifically the Akyem Abuakwa area.
