A popular priest, Okomfuo Kyei, known in private circles as Nana Yaw Kyei, has been elected as the Constituency Chairman for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch in Adansi Asokwah in the Ashanti Region.
Okomfuo Kyei defeated the incumbent, Godwin Anumley Dogodzi, pulling 436 of the total votes cast.
The Priest, after his declaration, pledged to work hard to ensure the NDC wins the Adansi Asokwa seat from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), who have held the seat for more than 20yrs.
He also called on members of the party to unite towards victory in the forthcoming elections in 2024.
Other executives elected were Mr Joseph Ankomah as Vice Chairman, Mr Lawrence Osei Adarkwa as Secretary, Mr Amidu Raman Razak as Assistant Secretary and Mr Kwabena Ebo as organizer.
The rest are Moses Appentengf as Treasurer, Isaac Semirika as Youth Organiser, Madam Mavis Adjei as Women’s Organiser and Julius Dzekpey Mawuli as Communication Officer.
The NDC held its constituency elections across the country on Saturday, October 22, 2022. However, 15 constituency elections have been suspended due to some unresolved issues.
