A pacemaker is a small device which is placed under the skin in your chest to help control your heartbeat. This device is use in other to help your heart beat more regularly if you have an irregular heartbeat(arrhythmia). Implanting a pacemaker in your chest requires a surgery.
There are two main types of pacemakers that is the single chamber pacemaker and the dual chamber pacemaker.
With the single chamber, It usually carries electrical impulses to the right ventricle f your heart.
Also with the dual chamber pacemaker, it carries electrical impulses to the right ventricle and the left atrium of your heart to help control the timing of contractions between the two chambers.
However we also ave the biventricular pacemaker which is also called cardiac resynchronization therapy for people with heart failure with abnormal electrical system. This type of pacemaker lowers the chambers of the heart to make the heart beat more efficiently.
