The founder of the church, Patricia Asiedua, formerly known as Nana Agradaa, is accused of perpetrating a money-doubling scam on some members of the Heaven Way Church in Weija, Accra, according to the police, who have launched an investigation into the matter.
Following reports on the subject that caught the Police’s notice, the investigation was started. In a video that went viral on social media, dozens of churchgoers were seen describing how they were supposedly conned. One of them claimed that the attack had affected roughly 5000 churchgoers.
The Police said in a statement on Sunday, October 9, “While investigation continues, we urge everyone, especially those who might have been affected, to remain calm and not take law into their own hands.”
The statement concluded, “We would like to urge anyone with information that can assist the investigation to report to the Accra Regional Police Command at Accra Central close to the COCOBOD building.”
