Governance is a progressive business and it behooves any Politician who takes up the mantle to continue from where his/her predecessors ended or couldn’t complete. Advanced countries have a national development agenda that is pursued by successive governments.
Sadly, in our part of the world, it isn’t so and the administrations that take over from the previous one either refuse deliberately to complete unfinished businesses or projects and resort to starting their own. This has resulted in several abandoned projects sitting in the bushes.
A typical example is that of the Kumasi children’s park which has been neglected for decades by successive governments and Captain Smart this morning sought to bring the attention of the authorities to the deplorable state of the recreational facility.
The journalist revealed that a huge amount of money has been committed to complete the project which has not seen the light of day. Unfortunately, the place which is supposed to be a playing ground for children has been turned into a resting place for thugs and miscreants.
According to the morning show host, the place has been converted to a public toilet where these rogues defecate and afterward use the books stored in the library for sanitary purposes. He showed the inner perimeter of the park and some of the books on live Tv.
“Kumasi children’s Park has been left to rot and party followers are always supporting these politicians. If Kumasi traditional authorities don’t call the politicians to order, I shall order a demonstration against them,” he concluded.
