The Chief of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfour Osei Tutu II has said that the authorities in the national capital who issue license to miners should come and stop them from the illegal mining.
Speaking today on Opensuo Radio, the highly esteemed chief said that it was time people seek accountability from leaders who issue the license to small scale miners to start the mining activities.
He questioned how notorious Galamsey kingpin Aisha Huang who was purported to have been deported found her way back into the continue her Galamsey activities.
He said there government appointees such as the district chief executives in the various communities where the Galamsey activities are on going, those are the people who are supposed to be held responsible if the fight is becoming impossible.
“We will be here and they will come with certificate or license for operation that it was given to them in the greater Accra. After all, the constitution says the minerals and the land belong to the president. They are the ones who knows those involved in the Galamsey. The government appointed the DCEs, security forces and other authorities to fight the Galamsey but why is in not successful? Because they know those involved. Let them be the ones to fight it, if they are unable to stop Galamsey, they are not supposed to ne there”Nana said.
