The Black Stars of Ghana played their second pre-world cup friendly against Nicaragua today. Ghana had lined up 3 matches to prepare for the biggest football tournament in Qatar. In the first match the team lost 0-3 to Brazil and this made many Ghanaian raise questions as to the lineup that the coach started with. The Ghanaians endured a torrid first half as goals from Marquinhos and Richarlison buried the Ghanaians.
Today’s match saw Ghana placed 60th in the world come up against the 139th team in the world. The coach in the absence of Tariq, Partey and Djiku had to ring in new changes to the team by starting Seidu, Bukari and Issahaku. The game started with the Black Stars trying to dominate the Nicaraguans. Abdul Issahaku got the goal for Ghana in the 35th minutes.
The second half began with Ghana still trying to get a second goal. The Nicaraguans tried to get their passes together but this was not enough as the Ghanaians held on to their one goal after missing a number of chances.
Many Ghanaians are not however pleased with the performance of the team. Some feel that the coach once again delayed with his tactics. Many however feel that the team has a lot of things to get right because they had no telepathy. Indeed, after the Ghana team grabbed the first goal, they went to sleep and allowed the Nicaraguan team to come at them. Ghana might have won but the performance wasn’t convincing.
Ghana will come up against Switzerland next month in the last friendly. After that the Black Stars will land in Qatar. The team is paired against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea. Check out the comments.
