According to political scientists, Dr Yaw Adutwum is one of the best-performing ministers in the country. The Education Minister delivered a strong speech at the UN Education Summit on how to produce critical thinkers to transform society.
“In Ghana, when I speak to the children and I ask them if they have questions, they refuse to ask questions because they have been tamed to be respectful and not to be assertive. Our children must respectfully ask the critical questions”.
” Why have we tamed our children such that they mistake the inability to ask the elderly critical questions as being respectful?”.
Well, the comments of the Education Minister have attracted massive reactions from the length and width of the country.
Some Ghanaians have indicated that the remarks of Dr Adutwum should be taken seriously since many children are timid because their teachers have been made to become timid. “How can a timid teacher not produce timid children?”
Well, it is not known how or to what extent the children of these days hardly become assertive. Do you agree with Dr Adutwum?
What are your thoughts on the ongoing discussion?
