Ghanaians Massively React As Ghana Water Company Limited Cautions Of A Shut Down If This Happens

Illegal mining activities, also known as galamsey, have detrimental effects on the development of the country. Galamsey causes deaths and diseases or illnesses. The activity also makes water bodies dangerous to human or animal lives.

The use of cyanide and mercury during illegal mining activity causes health issues in the kidneys, lungs and heart.

Polluting water bodies in the name of mining should be discouraged to prevent making the water bodies unusable. Can the country afford to import good drinking water into the country when our water bodies are destroyed?

Well, TV3 Ghana’s post of feedback quoted to have come from the Ghana Water Company Limited(GWCL), deserves to be taken seriously by all Ghanaians.

According to the report, the GWCL has cautioned that the plant may need to be shut down if the waterbodies are destroyed by galamsey.

What can citizens do to prevent the potential shutdown? How can the country win the fight against illegal mining activities?

What are your thoughts on the ongoing discussion?
