The owner of the Tema Youth football club in the Ghana division one league, Wilfred Osei Palmer has revealed the very reason why he thinks that investing in football is like a curse.
According to Wilfred Osei Palmer, a manager can take someone who is not good in playing football and spend a huge sum of money on him to recreate his style of playing, skills, dribblings and also make sure that he becomes a good footballer in the country.
And when that happens, this footballer will come to you and tell you that his contract has ended, so therefore it either you let him go or do something about it. Some of them even leave to be with other managers, meaning that all the money you spent on him has wasted.
You just think about it, is this investment not like a curse? Tell me if it is not, how can you sow something and then you one-day wake up and realize that someone else who did nothing about it is enjoying the harvest of your hard labour.
This issue happens all the time in football and it makes the game even more interesting. These actions of most of the players made me to use the statement that, making investment in football is like a curse.
