A lady by the name of Monica Sarfo from Krofrom in Kumasi shares the painful encounter she had after she got into a relationship 25 years ago. The lady stated that she ran into Kofi Agyemang who was a mechanic 25 years ago. She was a trader who depends on the money she earned from her work but she began having financial problems after she gave birth to their son. She went to the boyfriend’s mother called Maame Akua Addai’s house for money but the woman insulted her and also discloses to her that she will never allow Agyemang to marry her because she is not from a wealthy family.
She became depressed about what the mother-in-law told her but she couldn’t do anything to resolve the problem. One morning she left the baby with her friend and went to work but the mother-in-law took the baby from her friend without informing her. She went to their house for the child but the mother-in-law sacked her from the house. A few months later she got pregnant again for her boyfriend, the mother-in-law maltreated her till she gave birth. Agyemang’s auntie who was based in America had a meeting her after she came to Ghana and promise to support her to take care of the kids.
The auntie continues to send her money but she later discovered that her mother-in-law has been taken some of the money the Auntie sent to her. This issue brought a misunderstanding between them and Maame Akua took custody of the children without allowing her to visit them. She too moved on with her life but she received a call from her sister-in-law months ago who informed her that Maame Akua is dead and they have performed her funeral rites.
She tried to go back to the in-law’s house to visit her two children. But sister-in-law disclosed to her that they have changed the kid’s name and they don’t even know her. Also, her son is now based in America whilst the girl is also staying with her Auntie in Accra. The sad part is that her kids don’t her in person but the family members are still preventing from her meeting the children. Monica is pleading with the in-laws to allow her to take custody of her kids.
