Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the member of parliament (MP) for the Suame Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has denied allegations that he promised to build roads for his residents.
Many residents of Suame have criticized the majority in Parliament for breaking its promise to improve the terrible roads in the district.
On Monday, July 18, 2022, a group of irate Suame Magazine artisans hooted and hurled water sachets at their member of parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, for neglecting to maintain their roads.
On Monday, September 12, 2022, during Oyerepa Breakfast Time, the Suame lawmaker said that he had never committed to building roads for his community.
He claims to be aware of his obligations as an MP. He would never vow to fix roads because he is aware that MPs do not build them.
He said, “I don’t build roads; I haven’t pledged to build roads for anyone.”
He continued by saying that although he utilizes the roads as well and is aware of how terrible they are, the government bears the primary responsibility.
I’ve been on some terrible roads, so I know they’re bad, but the government is ultimately responsible.
Affirming that he had never made the aforementioned commitment to improving the Suame poor roads in response to the question, Kyei Mesnash urged anyone with proof to make it public.
If you believe I pledged to build your roads, please present your proof.
Do you believe that I will stand somewhere and guarantee my constituents’ roads given that I am aware of my obligations as an MP and have been warning my fellow lawmakers not to make such promises?
He inquired.
However, he promised to take all necessary steps to contact the government to request that the Suame roads be fixed.
“Please believe me when I tell you (same constituents) that I will do my best.
