The Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Kumah has finally released some evidences to prove his recent statement made about the Ghana Cedi being the third strongest currency in Africa.
According to him, some individuals are making claims that the Ghana cedi is the weakest currency on the continent. According to him, such a claim is a mere propaganda meant to undermine the government’s fiscal measures in halting the free fall of the cedi against the dollar. He stated that the cedi is currently the third strongest currency in Africa.
This comes after Manasseh Azure published an article on social media to reveal that the Ghana cedi is never the third strongest currency in Africa. He made it clear that minister’s claim was false and urged Ghanaians to disregard that.
John Kumah also believes that Manasseh Azure is only making up stories for click bait on his platform.
“The Fourth Estate and Manasseh Azure seems to have lost its fact-checking kit or they have simply decided to be creating for click bait purposes. A simple google check and referencing the rate at which other currencies are depreciating against the dollar will have shown that the Cedi in terms of value is indeed the third strongest currency in Africa.”
John Kumah is therefore challenging Manasseh Azure to name any currency in Africa that is stronger than the Cedi apart from the Tunisian Dinar and Libyan Dinar.
Below is the evidence provided by John Kumah to show that the Ghana cedi is indeed the third strongest currency in Africa
