The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region has announced a boycott of Kumasi-based Nhyira FM’s political shows dubbed “Kro Ye Museum and Kurantimi” hosted by Kojo Jantuah.
Over the weekend, Appiah Stadium, a sympathizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in a leaked audio, alleged that an amount of $2,000 dollars and GH₵2,000 cedis had been given to Kojo Jantuah as bribe by an unnamed businessman.
The said bribe, he further alleged, was to influence the morning show host, Kojo Jantuah, to project the NDC party’s agenda in the Ashanti Region.
When the said allegations were made, the Multimedia group, owners of Nhyira FM, issued a statement to exonerate their staff and rubbished the claims.
Mr Appiah Stadium himself has come out to clarify issues, saying that his claims were untrue, adding that they were directed at tarnishing the image of NDC Communication Officer, Abass Nurudeen to the benefit of Asafo Agyei who is contesting the incumbent.
“The things I said in the audio are part of the dirty work to unseat the incumbent, Abass Nurudeen. Even if it was true that there was some money to bribe him I would have spent it because I don’t know what Nana Jantuah has done to help our quest for power”, he explained on Nhyira FM.
Despite Multimedia’s denial and Mr Appiah Stadium’s U-turn, the NPP at press conference dubbed ‘two thousand dollars, two thousand cedis” to announce their boycott maintain that the allegations were true.
Communication Director of the NPP in Ashanti Region, Dennis Kwakwa rubbished, the statement from the Multimedia group exonerating their staff, describing the media House as a clearing agent.
