I have never taken ex-gratia, Abronye DC is only spreading falsehood – John Mahama

The office of former president John Dramani Mahama has debunked allegations that the former head of state took home the biggest ex-gratia in the history of the country. According to a release on the official Facebook page of John Dramani Mahama, he has never taken any such money serving in any capacity in his political life. The office of the former president, therefore, called on the public to disregard such fabrications.

The release comes on the heels of an allegation made by Mr. Kwame Baffoe, a leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party that John Dramani Mahama took home Ghs14 million as his ex-gratia when he exited power in 2013.

According to the document, it is a public record that can be verified with the office of The Chief of Staff that John Dramani Mahama has not taken any ex-gratia, and that such allegations were only made to score cheap political points and to defame the former president. The office of the former president, therefore, challenged the office of the Chief of Staff and the Office of the Presidency to provide proof to substantiate the allegation or stop spreading falsehood.

The office also stressed that they are aware that it is the stock-in-trade of president Nana Akuffo Addo and members of the ruling New Patriotic Party to run a clumsy political agenda against the personality of the former president usually built on falsehood.

The office also reiterated the vision of the former president to run a lean government should the people of Ghana give the National Democratic Congress a chance in the 2024 general elections.
