I Put HMB-UEMA Organizers On Their Toes When They Are Not Up To Task – Showbowy.
Hyperactive Upper East-based singer and rapper Showbowy has disclosed that his constant descendance on the organizing board of the Happy Man Bitters – Upper East Awards is what has kept them on their toes from the very first day to date.
He made this comment while passing through the Real Talk Show On Sammy Flex Tv with the host Sammy Flex.
It is observed that while most artists in the Upper East region appear to be timid about the ills of the industry, Showbowy claims to be an epitome of confidence, exposing the ill deeds of the industry personalities.
He, just like some other artistes is not comfortable with the major relying on “votes” criteria used in deciding winners in the HMB-UEMA. Explaining his distress to Sammy Flex, Showbowy indicated that it is very wrong to see an artist spending like 30k in the production and promotion of an album but once it gets to time for him to be awarded, another artist with a single song which may not even be popular comes to spend 7k in the voting process and just because he has amassed more votes than the hardworking artist, they tend to give him the award neglecting the one who worked hard and deserves the award more.
He started “….don’t do an award in favor of anybody, don’t also do an award just because you want to console somebody. If you see hardworking artists award them. Bra Sammy, I will spend about let’s say 30 thousand or 40 thousand bringing up an award in the year, pushing videos, a lot of stuff. When it comes to an award scheme, I will vote small and you will vote more, say you spend 7 thousand in the voting and I will spend 5 thousand and you tend to give the award to the one who spends the 7 thousand. Is it normal?
Is it done anywhere? That’s the problem I have with them….”
Showbowy is of the view that the works, the branding, the talent, and what the artiste contributes to the development of the industry are what should be awarded and not the votes he or she amasses when the time to award hardworking artists comes.
In his view, if it was about awarding those who can gather more votes, then no musician will have won Artist of the Year in the VGMA apart from Oseikrom Sikani because he has money and can always vote for himself and overcome anybody in a challenge as far as voting is concerned.
He has revealed that he has an album underway which is almost ready with features from stars like Fancy Gadam, Fad Lan, Don Sigli, Is Rahim, Rashid Mental among others on the album.
Meanwhile, the nomination for the 2022 edition of the Happy Man Bitters – Upper East Awards will be opened on September 1, 2022 for suitable persons, ranging from artistes, producers, DJs, and bloggers among others to make their entries.
