President Nana Akufo Addo and his vice; Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has, since assuming the highest seat of the land, been blaming their predecessor, Former President John Mahama for the current misfortune in the country.
On almost any platform they find themselves to address the public, the name of the former president is never missing from their speeches.
We know in politics, the battle is all about saying things to your advantage, and to the disadvantage of your political rival. This means making clever arguments, to discredit the opponents.
We can still remember those interesting days; between 2014 to 2016, when Nana Akufo Addo and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia then in opposition, used to organize public lectures, and reveal many things, about the economy, in attempts to discredit the John Mahama led NDC government.
In their desperate attempt to win power in 2016, Nana Addo and Bawumia Set many ‘Political Traps’ for their rival, Former president Mahama; but little did they know, that the ‘traps’ meant for Mahama, was waiting for them too.
The NPP’s 2016 flag bearer and running mate (Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia), lunched a massive ‘poor state of the economy’ campaign, against the former president and his NDC government. They blamed him for lack of ideas, incompetence, mismanagement of the economy, and corruption; which had led to the country’s problems, like challenges with the economy, hardships in the country, high cost of living, lack of job, cedis depreciation, and many more.
As politician always say; “Power has a way of exposing people. You can talk and say all the things you think is wrong with the system or your rival; but when the ‘table turns’, and you come to power, the reality will humble and expose you”; this is exactly how President Nana Addo and Bawumia got caught up in their own ‘trap’ against John Mahama.
It ended up that, all the bad things ‘the two’ (Nana Addo and Bawumia) said, against the former government, when they were desperately in need of power, got caught up with them ‘dito dito’, and in many cases, even more.
One would have thought, that anytime the president and vice gets the opportunity to address the nation on the economy, they will be bold to tell Ghanaians the truth of the current state of the nation; but no…even in their 6th year in power, they still blame the former president for a mess created during this current administration.
What the Nana Addo Bawumia government failed to understand is…Ghanaians do not care about who has done what; and who didn’t do what. What we as Ghanaians care about, is the current state of the economy; and how much goods and services cost NOW!
Also, the Nana Addo-Bawumia government have been playing the ‘blaming game’ with Ghanaians, from opposition; and now, whiles in power…they are still playing it. What the hungry citizens need today is nothing compared to a blame game; what we now need is a favorable socio-economy, to stay alive and thrive in.
The fact of the matter is; we are hungry; living conditions are very high, goods and services are extremely high; even higher than when the NDC was in power. The cedi is still falling, our businesses are collapsing; and instead of focusing on solving he problems, this government is shamelessly blaming someone who handed power to them six years ago.
The big question is…is the Nana Addo Bawumia government waiting for a ‘witch-doctor’ to reveal them…that they have failed Ghanaians; and that the political trap they set for the Former President Mahama; which successfully caught him, and threw him out of power in the 2016 election, has caught them too; and come 2024, they too will be thrown out?
