The Asante Nation has said that neither Nana Bantamahene nor Kumasi Traditional Council ordered or forced Oyerepa FM to shut down their station as speculated by the media.
According to Asante Nation, he counselled them that as a sign of remorse for their action against Nananom, they should use their station where Odike went to make a derogatory comment against Ohene to apologise to Nananom and go off air from tomorrow to Monday till the problem has been solved amicably, then they resume their operations.
“As an eyewitness, Bantamahene didn’t order them to shut down their station. Since it is advice, they have every right to take it and they equally have every right to reject it. Its is their right” the statement reads
“This is not the first time Oyerepa FM has offended Manhyia Palace. About a few months ago, Auntie Naa, the host of Oyerepa Afutuo in the said station disrespected the Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III when she discussed a sensitive issue which was already before the court of Asantehemaa. The Queen being a mother for all forgave them and they went.
And today here we are, the same Oyerepa FM, this time not any ordinary chief but the occupant of the Golden Stool” the statement added
