Following the current hardships, and the increasing number of HIV/Aids cases in Ghana, some youth in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, has spoken; and ‘hitting the nail right on the head’.
The presidential seat of Ghana; which for many years, has been tagged as ‘the seat of wisdom’, has now been renamed by the suffering youth, as ‘the Seat of curse’ under this current Nana Addo led NPP government.
The hardships in the country has now become extremely unbearable; and as some people do put it…’economically, the hardships are too much’.
When we the suffering youth says ‘yebre’ (we are suffering); what we really mean is that, “The ‘heat’ in Ghana today is killing us, as a result of the hardships under this government”.
An expert once wrote…”the hardship is so much to the extent that, some Ghanaians in the war country of Ukraine, chose to stay in Ukraine, when government wanted to bring them home to Ghana; perhaps, after weighing the hardships in Ghana which they were to face, choosing to stay in Ukraine and die, became the best option for them’.
Also becoming a big worry to Ghanaians, is the increasing number of HIV/Aids cases among the youth in the country.
The current report on HIV/AIDS, has revealed that, a total of about 23,495 people in Ghana, have tested positive for HIV, in the first half of the year 2022 (January to June).
According to a report by africanews.com, “The figure is two percent of the 948,094 people who undertook HIV testing from January to June 2022”.
It added that, “The figure for this new infection is too high, so we need to intensify education to let people know that HIV is still real; …We have to let people know that they need to stick to the prevention strategies”.
Reacting to these reports, some concern youth in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, has blamed the government for the increasing cases of HIV among the youth in Ghana.
Speaking in an interview on Adom morning news, some Ashanti youth explained that, because of extreme hardships, many young girls are forced to sleep with men for money; and that, this is the leading cause of increasing HIV case among the youth.
Some of the youth also explained that, even though sex is a thing approved by God Himself, the abuse of it, comes with it own consequences.
