The popularity of Ghanaian Parliamentarians, and politicians in general stems from two main angles: either the good things they have done, or continue to do for their constituents; or continuous failure of promises by them.Â
Recently, Honourable Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere has been quite popular in the media space, due to certain event that has unfolded in his constituency. But before we get into that, let us briefly unfold his life chapters.Â
Hon. Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere is a strong Member of the New Patriotic Party (Party), and currently representing the people of Atwima-Nwabiagya South Constituency in Ghana’s Ashanti Region. Prior to that, he represented the same constituency in the 7th Parliament of Ghana, on the ticket of NPP. Â
He was born on Thursday, September 20, 1962 in Asante Mampong.Â
Anhwere obtained his Ordinary Level and Advanced Level Certificates in 1983 and 1985 respectively. He further received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Management Option) in 2009 from University of Education, Winneba. The Honourable Parliamentarian is also a holder of Commonwealth Executive Master in Public Administration from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.Â
Professionally, he is a Senior Quality Control Officer at the Quality Control Department of Ghana COCOBOD.Â
In the Parliament of Ghana, Hon. Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere has served on the following committees:
1. Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee (as the Vice-ChairmanÂ
2. Privileges Committee.Â
A reliable source has confirmed that Hon. Anhwere is a Member of the Anglican Church. He is also married, and together with his wife, they have five children.Â
If we could recall, when allegations were levelled against the Chief Justice of Ghana’s Apex Court, Justice Anin-Yeboah, involving $5 million bribe, Hon. Anhwere stood behind him, and defended him in all aspects.Â
He exhibited his defense in the statement below:
“It is my hope that this unfortunate turn of events will not deter our Chief Justice from doing his job. I want to urge him to keep his head up and remember the words of the great philosopher, “Socrates” who once said “no evil can ever happen to a good man, in this life and in death.”
But the question is, do the very words he quoted from Socrates relate with the kind of work he is doing as a Parliamentarian?Â
Well, a reliable source, confirmed by Hub Ghana’s Pen_Sound has revealed that residents of Atwima-Nwabiagya South Constituency have chased Hon. Anhwere out of the constituency with ‘rusted coal pots and sticks” for woefully failing to keep his promises.
