On Tuesday, 23rd August 2022, Johnny Hughes pleaded with the ruling NPP government to give the youth a chance in leadership roles.
Johnny mentioned that he is not convinced of the reasons that support the renewal of the contract for the deputy director general of the Ghana Education Service.
He revealed that many workers of GES do not want the deputy director because the man continually does the bidding of the NPP and transfers staff at the least provocation.
” The deputy director is 63 years and you have renewed his contract three times even though there are young people who can do the job. What is special about the work that he does?”
Johnny Hughes also revealed that Nana Addo asked Ghanaians to try him when it was time for the elections. He indicated that Ghanaians are now telling Nana Addo to give the youth a chance instead of extending contracts for retirees.
Johnny asked why President Nana Addo has not replaced these retirees. He mentioned that the executive secretary of the complementary Education Agency has been saddled with allegations of forged alteration of his age and there were calls for his removal. Johnny Huges noted his disappointment when the President further communicated a two-year extension of the contract to the official. Johnny Hughes asked if there were no replacements.
” Is that your way of clearing those who are allegedly fraudulent? You sent letters to regional and district offices asking them to accord him cooperation without clarifying the allegations”.
