Seydou Zerbo has been appointed Asante Kotoko’s new head coach for the 2022 – 2023 campaign. The Burkinabe coach takes over for Prosper Narteh Ogum, who suddenly quit after leading Ghana to the 2017 – 18 Premier League title.
According to Kotoko, Zerbo has agreed to a one-year deal with a 12-month option. The 2020 African Nations Champion (CHAN) competition in Cameroon was the last time the 59 year old managed the Burkina Faso national team.
In the Caf Champions League first round, Rail Club du Kadiogo, the reigning champion of Burkina Faso, would be his opponent in his first official match for Asante Kotoko. Kadiogo is well known to Zerbo because that is where he started his coaching career.
Asante Kotoko also made the decision to cancel their pre-season visit of Turkey on Sunday. Sudan has been selected as their new preseason location.
