Sulemana Braimah Blames Parliament For The Economic Crisis Ghana Is In Now.

The rate at which the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is been lambasted for the depreciation of the cedi makes some people wonder if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the one who is telling the value of the dollar to rise against the Cedi. The Executive Director of the Media Foundation For West Africa, Sulemana Braimah, has intellectually revealed the person and institution that must be blamed for what is happening in the country now.

Surprisingly, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s name was not mentioned. After admitting how bad the economy has become, Sulemana Braimah named the President as the first person to blame. According to him, Nana Addo must be blamed because of the poor historic leadership Nana Addo has displayed over the past few years.

Sulemana Braimah also boldly blamed Parliament as the second cause. He made that claim because he believed that Parliament has failed to hold the government accountable to the people. By word of Parliament, he meant all 275 members of Parliament.

Technically, this blame was been directed at the Minority caucus in Parliament. This is because the majority caucus has over the years ended and opposed all processes that seek to make the government accountable. A typical example is how the Majority caucus during a sitting presided by Joe Wise decided to overturn a ruling for the probe into the COVID expenditure. Also, some intellectual NPP MPs brilliantly gave arguments as to why it was unnecessary and irrelevant for Parliament to probe the COVID expenditure.

Also, it must be noted that although we have a hung Parliament, it will be very difficult for the minority to have their way around since they have lost one vote, the Assin North MPs vote. Also, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin is also trying to play neutral instead of helping the NDC MPs give the government some tough time. Thus, it is very unreasonable to blame the Minority because of these restrictions.
