The host of the Good Morning Ghana show, Randy Abbey, has been advised by Dr.Bawumia’s technical advisor, Kabiru Tiah Mahama, to end the endless bad comments about the economy. We were all in the county when intellects in the New Patriotic Party, headed by Dr. Bawumia, organized countless speeches about the economy when Mahama was President.
The NPP also urged the media to speak about the negative direction Mahama was taking the country to. Also, because there was less attack from the government on the media when Mahama was President, top media personalities had the freedom to lambast Mahama for poorly mismanaging the economy.
In a recent interview on Good Morning Ghana show, the technical advisor to Dr. Bawumia felt that it was very unfair for Ghanaians, especially journalists like Randy Abbey, to be giving negative comments about the economy, Dr. K B Mahama argued that although the economy was in a worse shape, the comments made by people like Randy Abbey could send a wrong signal to investors and the IMF. According to him, such foreign institutions take the words of high profiled individuals and use that in making some decisions which in the long run, will not be in the interest of the country. He further cited Mahama and the NDC’s position not to allow the e-levy and the 2022 budget to be approved in parliament as a classical example.
In response, Randy Abbey jokingly told Dr. K B Mahama that he does not have his fuel tank been filled by the government but he uses his money so he will speak whenever he feels things are going wrong.
On the serious note, the statement from Dr. K B Mahama makes the NPP to look like a rather unattractive party. This is because, he and Bwumia had this knowledge in 2015 and 2016 but yet, they still gave negative comments about the economy and this was translated into more problems for the country.
