NPP Presidential Hopeful Speaks On The Controversy About The “Danquah-Busia-Dombo” Tradition

Amongst the various NPP presidential hopefuls, Alan Kojo Kyeremanten is the only one who has spoken about what transpired during the walk for Alan in the Ashanti Region. He is the first to speak because primarily, he was the reason behind the walk in the first place.

Another Presidential hopeful, who has announced his intentions several time publicly, Boakye Agyarko, who is also a former Energy Minister, has broken his silence on that issue. Based on the analysis made by Hopeson Adorye on that Saturday, clearly, Boakye Agyarko, would not have had any chance since he is neither from the Busia lineage nor is Christian.

Sensing that fact and threat to his ambition, Boakye Agyarko perhaps found it very necessary to respond to those claims from Hopeson Adorye. Bokaye Agyarko stated emphatically that so far the New Pariotic Party is concerned, there is no such thing as the Danquah Busia Dombo tradition. He was of the ardent view that the tradition of the New Patriotic Party is the UP tradition. He described the former tradition as a stranger and foreigner to the New Patriotic Party. He also believed that that tradition has been the root of all the conflicts in the NPP.

“Day in and day out, our collective actions provide ample reasons why we must rid ourselves of this false “Danquah-Busiah-Dombo” label, with all its cascading false claims and consequences, and return to our original label of the UP tradition. This falsely imposed label in itself is a harbinger of unnecessary strife among us. With such a return to our original label(UP Tradition), these false claims and counterclaims will be delegitimized and disappear. Our tradition is and must be the UP tradition, nothing more, nothing less”

The UP tradition is not about hero worshipping individuals or defying our leaders, but rather holding dear and remaining true to our values and principles. We pay our respects to those who reflect and exemplify our values. We need our peace of mind and unity in this party.
